About Me

As mentioned in my brief Bio, I get to play with a few cool things in my job as Senior ICT Services Consultant at Aegis Aged Care Group.

I came to Aegis in January 2009, during a "I'll back-pack around Australia" break I took from my job at join.media which only started in September 2008 and was meant to last 12 to 24 months...yeah...I didn't get very far in Australia; I also never made it back to Germany!

In the time spent at Aegis, I've morphed from a straight up Internet Software Developer to a "Jack of all trades". Whatever Aegis needs is what I'll get familiar with and gain knowledge in.

I'm incredibly lucky to also have some say in choosing the direction Aegis takes in regards to tech.
That means I get to research, test, and ultimately present to management for consideration, systems, hardware, software, solutions, etc. to be used by residents, staff, management and the ICT Team.

Some of the things I have recently worked on or with include:

  • Asterisk
  • FreePBX
  • Nutanix
  • HYCU
  • Veeam
  • Docker
  • Ruby
  • PHP
  • Laravel
  • Git
  • Puppet
  • PowerShell
  • Apple MDM
  • VeloCloud SD-WAN
  • mikrotik RouterOS
  • UniFi Hard- & Software

As anyone working in IT knows, one comes across plenty of WTF moments.

This blog is meant to detail those moments and, hopefully, also include their real world solutions, which usually consist of a combination of a ton of Google searches, a splash of experience and a whole lot of trial and error.
